President's Message - March 2018

Nameeta Dookeran, MD

Dear Colleagues,

Spring is in the air! With the WMS Annual Meeting and House of Delegates April meeting just around the corner, your WCMS delegation, has been striving to make sure your voice is heard. We sent out a survey seeking interested WCMS members' thoughts on resolutions. Then last week the WCMS delegation, of which I am part, represented you at our seven-county District (D-1) meeting to discuss our joint stance on these resolutions going before the WMS House of Delegates. There are some interesting resolutions being brought forth that have already fostered good dialogue and healthy debate.

Please join us at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, if you can, for the WMS Annual Meeting on April 14th to network and be a part of the policy-making process. There will also be a CME-earning opportunity for a portion of the day.

And remember to sign up for the WCMS Spring CME program on April 10th with reception and dinner in Waukesha. The topic of Staying Connected to Our Healing Spirit through Increasing Wellness and Decreasing Burnout clearly has direct relevance for current and future generations of practicing physicians. I will be at the event and look forward to a lively discussion. I also look forward to having the opportunity to chat with many of you individually in the reception time before or in the milling-around time after.

With a few months remaining in my WCMS Presidency, I encourage and welcome your suggestions. Rest assured, these will help inform our priorities and programming for the upcoming year under the new leadership Dr. Jon Brodie, incoming President. Thank you for allowing us to serve you.

Warm regards,

-Nameeta
